Robust/ Gruff/ Fatherly ( some cases)/ Brave / Diligent/ Hard-working/ Sociable / Boisterous/ Blunt/ Patient (to an extent)

A Valskian man who has seen much, Valdermar knows that the world is not a soft place and thus has tempered his personality due to his environment as well as from his past experiences. Though despite his gruff and rough attitude , he is sociable especially more light-hearted at the end of a hard working day. Taverns are his favorite place to relax where the mead is flowing and his more positive , boisterous personality makes itself known. Diligence and patience are virtues that he upholds, especially since his line of works requires him to not make a possible life threatening mistake. Though his patience only goes so far. If one really kept at annoying him, he can be a bit abrasive and short. He can play a fatherly role, especially to those younger than him, if he cares for them enough.

History:

Born to Ruslan Ragnir, a retired military soldier, and Alexei Ragnir, a former traveling mercenary, Valdermar was raised an enriched yet rough life with his younger, adopted, sister. He learned at a young age how to do simple hunting such as traps, light farm work, Valskian history, and superstitions. When he was old enough, his mother lead him out to hunter larger prey and his father taught him more about fighting with swords as well as basic hand-to-hand combat. Much of their teaching was well received, and Valdermar grew to love and respect his lifestyle with his family and within Valsk.

After having experienced the adrenaline rush and thrill of hunting and fighting, young Valdermar was always out doing something to experience that rush again. When exploring the surrounding land and coming across possibly dangerous creatures weren't enough, he sometimes turned to fights. This didn't start happening until he was around 17 years old. The guidelines that his parents had set out for him while growing were becoming too strict for him while he grew up now. Many a time he would sneak out at night to bars and occasionally got into bar fights. Sometimes he'd make it out without having a city guard drag him home or temporary confinement, but when the mentioned did happen, his punishments at home would be grueling. Any housework or farm work needed to be done was done mostly by him, and he did it all under the scrutiny of one of his parents.

After his third, and this time final , bar fight, he was kicked out of his home. His father told him that they were no long going to cover for him if he wasn't going to take heed of their words. He packed what essentials he could, but before he left, his mother slipped him a small token: a necklace with a simple ruby on it. Despite his violent tendencies, she thought his fighting spirit was admirable , to an extent, and could be put under control and put to use. There was a traveling man by the name of Abram who wandered the Kingdom this time of year, having decided to live a more nomadic life due to his occupation of being a mercenary. She had trained with him herself and found his teachings useful for when she had been rebellious in her younger days. She thought it was best for Valdermar to seek him out so that he may learned what it really mean to be a fighter. And get paid for it! Not to mention that Abram was from Valsk himself, so it would be easier for them to relate to an extent. So with that, Valdermar left Valsk in search of his future mentor.

It took him a year or so before he ran into the man his mother wanted him to find. It turned out that they happened upon eachother in Amedra in a tavern. Valdermar had been talking to him as a stranger, but when Abram had caught glimpse of the necklace, he revealed he was the one that Valdermar might be looking for.  After seeing the necklace that Valdermar received from his mother, Abram, after much hesitation, took the other in to teach the ways of being a Berserker.

They left Amedra the next day and headed to  Cantor where the vast country side would provide them enough room to train as well as a more peaceful setting to concentrate. He was tested on what he did know, what needed to be worked on and what skills were useful. Through many trying confrontations, Valdermar's rebellious nature was disciplined ( he had no other home to go to at this point), and through many years, the two traveled as apprentice and master. Abram's reputation and connections gave Valdermar many opportunities as a mercenary. They traveled most of Miras and ran into different kinds of people and elves.

Being born in Valsk, Valdermar couldn't help but be very suspicious of the latter, however Abram helped him out of such mentality. Well, not completely out of it. He still dealt with them warily and if they give him one reason to prove him right that they were suspicious creatures, he held it against that one elf until they really proved themselves. He's wasn't outright rude, but he still eyed them with tension. Though Abram told him that not all elves were bad. “ Just keep wary for the dark elves , though,” he had laughed one time, “ those are the ones where if you give them so much as a look they think it's reason enough to slit your throat! Your stink eye might get you killed one night!” Their travels took them not only around Miras but in some parts of Koben as well ( though they avoided any land dominated by elves). The land of Alva was one of opportunity, wonders, danger and thrills.

When he reached 25, Abram claimed that the other knew what he needed to know and that he wasn't really needed anymore. The years had been fun, if you claim fighting and having near death experiences fun, but Valdermar was ready to utilize his skills to lead his own life now. Though before they parted ways, Abram gave him a simple silver coin to present as a sign that he had passed his apprenticeship. The last they saw each other was back in the place it all started: Amedra.

Now on his own, Valdermar returned home to show his parents what he accomplished and tell them what they learned and how much he had grown.Along the way he enlisted himself in a few mercenary-based jobs before going there, that way he had money to give as a gift to his parents as a sign for showing good will and want for forgiveness. When he returned home, it was noticeable how his parents had aged but they were still going strong, and when he presented the coin to his mother and the decent amount of pay to his father, they both became proud. Even though his father commented on how the money wasn't really necessary, Valdermar shrugged it off and thought it was the right thing to do. The only member to be missing during the following celebration was his adopted sister who had moved out.

After feeling he was in good graces with his parents, Valdermar now travels around Miras like Abram does, a possible mercenary to those who need it. He occasionally travels to Koben and offers his services there , but he mostly stays in Miras. It's his home country where everything was familiar and where dark elves weren't too abundant.

Additional info:

-Weapons of Choice:
One handed /Two handed swords/ Bows (only basics due to hunting)/ Axes (not as proficient as swords)

-He has /some/ tolerance for elves. He doesn't want to go around creating enemies who could, if they had been treated right, been a potential connection to a job opportunity. That, and he's only one man. He doesn't need a whole band of elves going after him. Light and Wood elves are still held with some suspicion and judgement but if they keep on his good side, he's willing to be open with them. Dark elves, however, he holds under a LOT of scrutiny and judgement over and it would take one to really prove themselves friendly for him to even consider as an aquaintance. If given the chance , however, he'd choose with dealing with a human rather than an elf unless he knows said elf.

-He has a cut on the right side of his ear. Just one of the many battle scars that he has from his adventuring.

-He finds Valskian armor working far more superior than most and is always willing to travel back home if his armor needs updating or repairs.

-Valdermar is known to have a soft spot for beasts whether ferocious or docile. Though, of course, if he's hungry, he wont hesitate to shoot a deer or rabbit.

-He has a soft spot for kids too (no not for eating/shooting like the above mentioned).

-Has been in a relationship before , however they broke up due to his dangerous job and constant traveling.

-Not wanting to repeat his mistake when he was younger, he holds himself with restraint when it comes violent matters . Though when he is allowed to fight, he doesn't hold back so watch out!

-He's not a fan of magic. He likes being able to use his own hands and mind to complete tasks.

-He's holds some superstitions that he learned about while growing up

Relationships: Alexei Ragnir (his mother), Ruslan Ragnir ( his father), Caroline Ragnir (adopted sister though her actual last name is Artel), Abram Alfaro (his mentor).
